Hello everyone,
I'm considering to buy a bottom intake fan to enhance the airflow in my case. But I'm kinda having hard times deciding between a high air flow or a static pressure fan.
My case is Corsair 400R and right now I have 2 front intakes, 1 rear exhaust (these are Corsair's stock fans) and 2x generic xigmatek xlf as top exhausts. All of these fans are 120mm. Also my cpu cooler is Hyper 212 Evo.
The problem with my airflow now is; I have all my hard drive slots occupied, so front intakes are pretty much just cooling those drives. I don't even know if those Corsair front fans are optimized for static pressure. So my intake airflow is a bit crippled and I think a decent bottom intake fan might help a bit, even help gpu temps slightly.
There is also another small problem that I have to take into consideration: Since there is the PSU right next to that bottom intake fan slot, cables coming out from psu might block some of the airflow. I will try to clear its path though but still it won't be that perfect obviously.
Those cables make me think a static pressure fan might be a better idea, but on the other hand the path is not completely blocked and the area isn't that narrow. So, I'm confused at the moment.
What kind of fan would work better? And also I'm willing to listen any brand suggestions. I'm leaning towards Noctua but their fans are a bit expensive where I live. Apart from that, noise isn't a really big deal breaker for me, since I will use motherboard's custom fan profile to restrain it. But still, it better not be an aircraft engine. 😛
