I'm looking to upgrade from my current i7 4790K. After researching and reviewing many vids and articles, I'm deciding between these two 8700K or 2700X. I'm a content creator but mainly using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender for 3D modeling. Through reading articles and looking at some scores, it seems like the software I use probably won't really benefit from higher cores? Blender cans GPU to render and Adobe Ps and Ai perform better with lesser cores? However, because of work, I often will have 60+ pages of browser tabs open while working. With my current build, it started to lag heavily while running all these software. So, I don't know will having more cores help me in this case. I do know that I need more RAM so I will be upgrading from 16GB to 32GB memory.
I already created the build I am thinking to buy. But will like some suggestions because I am not sure which one to go with.
- 8700K
- MSI MAG Z390 Tomahawk
- G.Skill DDR4 32GB 3000
- 970 EVO 512GB
- GTX 1070 8GB (my current GPU)
- CPU fan: EVGA CLC 120 Liquid Cooler
- Corsair Crystal 570X
Sub: $1,043
- 2700X
- ROG Strix B450-F Gaming
- G.Skill DDR4 32GB 3000
- 970 EVO 512GB
- GTX 1070 8GB (my current GPU)
- CPU fan: from 2700X stock
- Corsair Crystal 570X

This is what I came up with my 1k budget. Because they are only $100 apart, 2700X does not seem to be a CPU I will pick over just by looking at the price. Was thinking to go with cheaper Z370 or lower tier motherboard, but USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C is only available in the new motherboard line up.
