Hey everyone,
I'm looking to build an inexpensive computer to replace my parents old clunker. Currently they are using an old pentium 4 with 512 MB of ram. The operating system alone is barely functional at this point and I thought it might be a nice christmas gift. I would like it to be capable of very basic gaming, though my dad only plays Tiberian Sun, which released in 1999, and Bejeweled on facebook. Any suggestions would be awesome.
Not looking to spend more than a few hundred dollars.

I would like to buy new hardware if possible, im not sure how realistic that is, most likely re-using monitor, keyboard and mouse, and potentially the case, so i need a cpu and motherboard with memory, and a cheap gpu.

You can buy my old sempron 1250LE am2 cpu for $25. I use a biostar 6150 MCP6P which is on sale for $43.99 w/free shipping today at newegg. I've been using it for 3 months with no problems. It will work with any am2 or am3 cpu up to 95 watts. I have a dual core cpu coming in in a couple of days. Let me know if you're interested.
