Suggestions for CPU upgrade from AMD A8-6600k

Okay, I bought this PC last year. It was a bundle and it was cheap.
Specs:
AMD A8 6600k Richland CPU
ASUS A58M-E Motherboard
2x Kingston Hyper X 4GB DDR3 memory

Initially, i had Powercolor HD 6570 videocard crossfired with the APU but then decided to upgrade to a GTX 750ti card. I have no problems playing 60 fps in ultra settings since i only have a 720p monitor. But only for old and recent and not-so-demanding games. As for demanding games like crysis 3 / farcry 4, i can barely get 60 without having to experience fps drops in the middle. Also there are new games that i wanna play. I've decided to upgrade my cpu and MoBo first. I have my eyes on AMD fx 8350. Would that be a good choice? Would future GPU upgrades get me 60fps on a 1080p monitor? Suggestions please?

P.S. Im not aiming for the high-end upgrades since im on a budget

The FX8350 is a mighty fine processor, especially for budget builds. But keep in mind that you would need a new motherboard as well.
With a better gpu, such as a gtx 970, you could max every game currently at 1080p at a stable 60fps.
