Hello, I'm trying to clone my existing data WD HDD (non bootable) drive to a new larger Samsung SSD hosted on the Windows 10 OS. I've tried downloading Clonezilla and DiskGenius. Both triggered virus alerts on my ESET malware scanner. Does anybody have any suggestions on what software to use? Can I just copy all the folders on my HDD to the SSD using Windows file copy? My system is dual bootable Windows/Linux. Can I use the Linux DD command to clone my disk. Seems I have several options. Which is best. Thank you.

Does any body have any suggestions on what software to use?
Acronis True Image, Macrium Reflect.

Can I just copy all the folders on my HDD to the SSD using Windows file copy?
If the drive isn't used for the OS, yes you should be able to just copy over fles from the HDD to the SSD after you've initialized the SSD in Disk Manager.

Please keep in mind that SSD's aren't good as storage drives, so if your data on the HDD is mission critical, might want to have a backup of it on another HDD.

Thanks for the great advice. I did download Macrium Reflect and it worked great but slow. I never heard that SSD aren't reliable for long term storage before. I was thinking about replacing my HDDs in my NAS with SDDs. I'll search the forum for more information on the reliability of SDDs. Thanks again.
