Question Suggestions For RAM?

Hey everyone,

So I have two ram sticks of 8gb ram, and looks like it is only reading one stick. I did not swap the rams to test out if its the mobo or the ram being faulty. I am assuming that it is the ram stick considering it is reading the other ram stick. So I figured maybe I should upgrade my RAM. I have the following MOBO and current RAM. If someone can please suggest one equally or better to buy. I am looking for 16-32gb in total. Thank you.

Test your RAM using Memtest86 from a USB and don't make assumptions.
If the test indicates any errors at all then RMA the full kit.
Do not combine kits.
Indicate the manufacturer of choice and at what frequency and CL Latency.
Do you want a two DIMM or four Dimm kit with or without RGB lighting.

My CPU: Intel i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20 GHZ

I will look into the Memtest86 as you suggested and will learn how to do it since I never done one before.

I used to run the two sticks on A2 and B2. I did run a test in which I took 1 of the ram sticks into all 4 dimm slots and it did not load bios or anything (monitor stayed black). I tested the second ram stick on all 4 dimms and it worked loading windows and took me to my desk top on B1 Dimm, B2 Dimm, A2 Dimm. It failed on A1 Dimm, and I tried it twice and it failed loading anything both times, which is weird to me since it works on 3 out of the 4 slots, I figured it would work on all 4.

I will be ordering the full kit so I wont mix rams. I prefer two DIMM since I read that it is less stress on the controller.

As for the manufacturer, frequency and CL Latency I am open to any quality brand. I have used mostly Corsair in the past.

Yes you are correct. Two Modules is better and less strain on the Memory controller.

Corsair have a kit (2x16) 32GB at 3200MHz that are listed on the QVL which have been tested and known to work.
They are: CMK16GX4M2B3200C16(Ver4.24) and CL16 should work well with your system.
This kit has Two XMP profiles to choose from.

The difference between 16g and 32G is the size in terms of GigaBytes. The kit I recommended are (2x8) for 16GB and the kit your looking at are (2x16) for 32GB if that's what you want
CMK32GX4M2B3200C16 have been tested and known to work.

Why do you need 32GB ?

I was just thinking 32gb because most of the new riggs were all coming out with 32 from 16. So i thought maybe more applications these days were using a higher ram demand. I mostly use this rigg right now for gaming and work programs like quickbooks

Apps that use more than 16GB are for large video editing and CAD rendering of large 3D files. If your going to do that in the future then OK otherwise save your money cause AAA gaming won't use more than 16GB.

Yea I do not do video editing, I do sometimes do 3D programs like Blender, but its more of a hobby and a bit on the rare side. Thanks for the help and will just get the 16GB.
