Suggestions for the best AMD CPU

I need an AMD CPU compatible with an AMD 3 socket that runs sufficiently in gaming
*This is not an AMD 3+ socket, just an AMD 3

The AMD Phenom II X4 980 should be better than those suggested above. (ignoring overclocking)

Or what about the Phenom II X6 1100T.

With a reasonable video card it will be ok for gaming. Not great, but OK.
