so I've purchased a few components based on sales that occurred but I'm not sure if I made a mistake in making spur of the moment purchases.

purchased components: memory, storage, psu after shipping, taxes, rebates/gc etc i've spent $250 which is a little bit less than half my budget and at the time these purchases seemed like good deals now I'm second guessing and I feel a little lost on how to proceed with the build... purchased: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/kd2013/saved/1JRv

components needed: what would you buy with $200-300 total budget for these parts really need some suggestions here

Cpu: I want to get either an i3 3220 for $100 (currently selling for $120 hoping it will go on sale soon for under $100 soon) or an i5 3570k for under $200

gpu: cheapest set that can run 6 displays? right now I'm thinking Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 1GB $20 each at newegg, I think I will need to buy 2 hdmi active adapters for these cards to display and run 6 monitors (probably 2X $20-40 more). I'm really confused about gpus especially the cards that can run 6 displays but have only 4 ports- how would I actively run 6 display monitors out of 4 ports without connecting a second video card?

Mobo: tbd $50-100

case: tbd $20-50

optical drive: possibly free-$0-25

operating system: free $0 if there's room in the budget cpu cooler and case fans

I'm keeping my eyes out for a processor motherboard combo bundle sale. but here's a link to what I'm currently thinking of building.

That PSU is atrocious. Anything other than Corsair, Antec, XFX, or Seasonic will either not function very well or might even be a fire hazard. They can even kill your build. Never cheap out on a PSU, no matter the voltage. Also, the GPU's suck and are very likely to not even run a game on low. Get this:

I'd recommend an HDD unless you already have one. An SSD will not cover it for gaming unless it's one of the really big ones. I'd recommend returning that stuff you bought and grabbing these. Also, 16GB is overkill. I personally regret getting 16GB for my build.

That looks very good and is good advice, but you won't need a z77 mobo because the cpu is locked...

It gives him an upgrade path. If he wants to sell his i3 in a year and get a used i5, it's easily doable.

I agree with Thanatos Telos, although I would not have said so in such a way, and (s)he is also being slightly dramatic. Sparkle is not a brand that I go to but they wouldn't be in business if they set your house on fire and TweakTown likes this psu, and I think TweakTown is a very reputable critic.

It helps on the forums, if you are as specific as possible with your needs and wants.

What exactly are you trying to build? A gaming pc? And why would you need 6 monitors? Six monitors are a lot for a $700 build which is considered budget as far as gaming is concerned.

If you can return what you have purchases please do so, and not because what you have is inherently bad, it is just not what you are going to need in a $700 build.

If you can't return what you have purchased, don't worry, what is done is done. However it will cost a little more than $300 to get you where you most likely want to go. And you will probably have to go with AMD over Intel. Not that AMD is cheap or inferior to Intel, they just provide a better budget system at the moment.
