My level 25 character gets bored with the rapid transit system and decides
to hoof it. Trotting steadily up a backroad, and....hey! There's one of
them little brown doors in the side of a mountain. I've never been in there
before, I wonder if anyone's home?

So lets say you're a smuggler, keeping watch over the entrance to your lair.
You're maybe level 7 or so, and you're sporting a chittim dagger and
actually wearing a few pieces of armor. You've got 12 gold pieces in your
pocket, and doggonnit, no one's going to take them away from you. A
dangerous little fellow indeed. Suddenly a stranger appears at the door.
She's got a rugged look about her. She's unarmored, but every single thing
she's wearing is glowing ominously, as is the Daedric Wakizashi she's
holding, and the glass shield on her left arm. There's a daedric bow slung
across her back. She walks with the light-footed step of someone who's
speed and agility are both boosted to insane levels.

Having the common sense and native intelligence of a muck sponge, you of
course attack immediately, brandishing your fearsome dagger and screaming
lustily about how the invader's gonna die in great pain. The stranger
unslings her bow, and nails you with an arrow that knocks you clean off your
feet. But it was a quick shot with a plain silver arrow, so it didn't kill
you outright; you've got a whole 4 health points left. You're still in the
fight! Of course there's nothing to do but get up and continue your charge,
howling about how if the stranger gives up, you'll be merciful and end her
life quickly.

Are you good, or what?

You certainly are, LOL. That was funny. :)

see now this is a perfect example of a cultural misunderstanding.
everyone thinks the bandits and smugglers are suicidal because of their
tendency to attack characters twenty levels above them, but that's not
it at all. that poor bandit was running towards you not full of hate but
full of awe, respect and childlike idolisation. when you translate "you
will suffer greatly" from Tamrielic into English it becomes "Can I have
your autograph please". You see, that poor smuggler only wanted you to
sign your name on his dagger so he could show it off to all his friends
at bandit camp

LOL!

So N'wa is really a term of endearment. I never knew. This game badly
needs a constant effect translation spell so we know what those poor
blighters are really saying.

So what's that blade trainer gal in Balmora really saying when she say's "I
like what I see" in that sultry voice?

No, but not running Wakims Game Improvments, which do some tuning to the
Flee AI (if you might call that "AI", I've my doubts). At least they run
away when badly hurt, and together with VGreetings they yell something
funny - I love the Khajiit voice acting.

The WGI mod doesn't stop them attacking you, though. They just realize
their mistake earlier, but mostly it doesn't help much. :)

Earlier? Since almost all of my characters use Daedric Claymores with
really, nasty, heavy, enchantments most fights don't last past that
first hit.

Really, after two dozen levels or so I'm actually highly suprised when I
don't kill stuff with one hit.

On a different note, is it a bad thing when over half of your inventory
is filled with rings, enchanted rings, and soul crystals in different
stages of empowerment?

Being a short blade type, I don't get the uber-weapons. The best short
blade I've found is the daedric wakashazi I mentioned, enchanted with a good
dose of absorb health. Of course, when you're really fast, and can hit the
heavier opponents 6 to 1, the effect is pretty much the same:
<whackwhackwhackwhack(deathgrunt)thud> If they do manage to get a get a hit
in, the sword insures that my health is back up to full by the time the
fight's over.

Not as long as you're beefy enough to carry it all. My characters tend to
rely on speed and agility rather than brute strength, so being
overencumbered is bad. But a strong fighter with a weapon that ends most
fights before they start doesn't have that worry much.

But that reminds me of a question. I've never used a soul gem to recharge a
weapon and not used it up. How high does your enchant skill have to be
before you start getting more than one use out of a soul gem?

ROFL!!!

That was funny because it was true. Sometimes I feel sorry for those poor
buggers, but what are gonna do when they charge you with weapons drawn?

that translates to "I could just murder a curry"

Well the Redguard "receptionist" at the Fighter's Guild in Vivec says
exactly the same thing so I'm afraid to find out! (Assuming you're
suggesting what I think you're suggesting!)

Sometimes when I'm not in the mood to fight I'll just swig a Fire
Shield potion and see what happens next...

I don't think you can, IIRC the Enchant skill governs how many recharge
points you get out of a full gem as a percentage of the total value of
the soul contained in it, IYSWIM

Ah. Thanks.

It's too bad that we can only enchant with on strike / constant / targetted
events, and cannot really control the spell target... It'd be real nice if
we can enchant a getting-hit event, so we just enchant an armor piece with
abosorb health (on attacker) when getting hit! Now we can only do the
bug-zapper 😉

I've only read about this <g> but I believe there is one soulgem that is
re-usable and it's some fairly high order quest item (Azura's Star'sp?).

yup, you can keep re-using the star itself but you still only get one
use of each soul you trap in it - no endless clones of vivec I'm afraid!
