The motherboard itself has little to do with actual performance. You spend more on a motherboard for features such as better CPU support, overclocking ability, durability, sound, or more advanced connectivity. The chip you put in there is far more important.
Now if you're going to use a GPU accelerated codec then perhaps you should consider a dedicated graphics card.
