Sun monitor PC adapters

Has anyone here ever tried a PC adapter for a monitor from a Sun workstation? I have seen fairly cheap 21" Trinitrons for sale, but they require the adapter in order to use them with a PC. Does anyone know if there are any drawbacks to this?

most SUN monitors are fixed frequency, i.e they run on one resolution only (usually 1152x864 i think) as PCs change resolution several times during booting and on games, some things will not be visible with these monitors:
BIOS
DOS
POST
windows safe mode
DOS based games/programs
all these will be inaccessible with a fixed frequency monitor

and you'll have to run all widows stuff at the given resolution your monitor supports.

check out the database @ www.monitorworld.com to be sure

I tried using one of those on a 20" I was given. However the monitor came on during boot up, but in windows the picture went all weird, which is why im now begining to believe that they run on different resolutions. I think ill go back and try setting it into a weird resolution within windows, and then swapping over the monitor live to see if it will start up.
