I will be needing to build my wife a new pc for gaming in the near future, I built one on pcpartpicker, and wanted to get the excellent opinions of the community. Will this build give good performance at 1600x900 resolution. Are there any changes you would recommend?

I really don't think you need that nice of a motherboard for that system, (maybe something like a GA-F2A78M-HD2 or if you really want an ATX board a GA-F2A88X-D3H), and I would recommend bumping up the graphics card a bit, at least to an R9 270, it's not that much more expensive and you'll get more value for your money. Rest of the system looks fine.
