My Friends old laptop was getting bsod's and refusing to let him load into windows 7. After some attempts at repair he decided to just fresh install windows 10. Post install his laptop is super slow. I have googled around and implemented any form of solutions I could find and still no dice. Currently there are a few issues that I can report other than slowness.
- chkdsk freezes durring phase 1 without any form of an error.
- windows defrag doesn't detect his system drive.
- running a system scan also gets stuck at 28% without any errors.
- cannot open windows disk management getting the following errors:

Other Information:
His PC model: asus g47sx
All Drives connected to his laptop are NTFS - using an MBR Partition Table.
He is using an updated windows 10.
His nvidia drivers are updated.
Im Not sure if he needs any drivers that windows 10 didn't find.

Any help would be awesome.

Hello... good only one item wireless... well it is best to setup the OS first with just the OS drive connected... try a boot with just the OS drive installed.

1) Were all the previous Win7 partitions deleted on the OS drive before the NEW win 10 install? (clean install) the installing OS will not do this for you.

I'll have him do a boot with his wd password unplugged, however 2 of his non system drives are in his laptop so booting with only the os drive is kinda impossible right now.

As for the windows 10 installation I was not there when he installed it. I know for a fact that he performed a fresh install, no windows.old folder exists, and he only has a win10 and recovery partition on his drive.

One other thing, I dont really trust programs like the one I used but drivertoolkit is claiming that the following drivers are not installed - https://puu.sh/t7bix/dc89bfe10e.png - https://puu.sh/t7bj4/808b48aa75.png - and that these are out of date - https://puu.sh/t7bld/8b41d53878.png

Hello... Yes... these items should be Dl'd and installed from the asus website for his Model... after the OS "Clean install"... go through those lists/suggestions and locate them... typically the chipset drivers are the first things to install... this will allow drive communications etc with the Chips on the MB.

if the previous Win7 partitions exist... they will take up Disk space... installing a new OS will not delete them... or save them to another location... these are "Partitions" (drive space allocated) stored on the drives themselves... preventing use of this space or interfering with the new OS partitions created.

Ill report back on things after I install these. Any driver links you can find for me would be great.

Hello... his laptop support was stopped at 8.1... BUT the List is the same needed for Win10 hardware drivers... search for WIN10 OS model ones from Microsoft or the company names involved.
https://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-G74SX/HelpDesk_Download/

1) You need the intel chipset drivers for the MB and CPU.
2) you need the Realtek drivers for the MB sound.
3) you need the Realtek drivers for the LAN.
4) you need the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560M drivers.
etc...etc...etc... go through the list with the win7/8.1 driver list on the Original construction page from ASUS.

Alright Im back, I installed what I could find and now his hdd shows up on the defrag list.
one thing, his pc was working fine before letting windows 10 update to the latest version and stuff.
I ran a system scan and it actually finished this time. It said that some errors could not be repaired, here is the log file that that helps. -
file was too big for pastebin I had to put it in a zip - https://puu.sh/t8k6p/8cf6a275b1.zip
When Opening Disk Manager it Gives a microsoft management console stopped working message and closes.
I defraged his drive and am not sure if it helped.
I managed to get chkdsk to finish a scan and it reported no issues.
This is the current list of what is remaining on that driver tool https://puu.sh/t8gue/9d54d78766.png - https://puu.sh/t8guJ/02cad0ade9.png.
Any other info I can provide I will.
