Hy guys,

so, I got myself a new PC for a while now and wanted to make my gf happy and give her my old workhorse, which, despite it's age (6) still boasts some power (at least more (2x) than her lifebook from 8 years ago)

The config is:
Supermicro C2SBX MoBo( heh.)
Q9400 @ stock clock, stock cooler
VTX R7 270
Enermax Pro 82+ PSU (no clue about the wattage, the builder decided to build it in a fashion that you can't look at it)
4x 2GB Kingston DDR3-667Mhz RAM (2 from 2009, when I ordered the PC, 2 from 2012 when I added them)
4x nondescript 250GB HDDs ( they're in a server-style, hot-swap cage with the RAID card at the back and a lockable door at the front... guess who lost the key)
Supermicro SAS733TQ RAID Controller

Now on to the problem:
When the PC starts up, vendor page comes, goes, all is peachy, then the first black screen with basic system info comes up, along with horrible beeping (short, almost continuous), which will continue until you hit a key on the keyboard, then it proceeds to start up.

That would be tolerable, although I'd still want to know why it does that, but somehow, the windows installation got botched and I can't get it to run okay, windows flicker, start menu flickers, all flickers and you can't do much of anything with it, and the Windows update doesn't work because of ~Reasons~, it always fails, tries to repair and all in a circle.
So I decided to try and install windows from scratch. But the process fails. It goes through the loading of the Data okay, gets through the "Starting setup" screen and then the PC restarts.

I'm at a loss. I tried switching out the RAM (or juggling with it, only 2, different ports and so on). I can't run without the GPU, since the MoBo doesn't have VGA. I thought about disassembling the RAID controller and plugging HDDs directly into the MoBo, but didn't want to go through with that just yet. I noticed the North Bridge gets warm/hot, don't know if that amounts to anything. You can still touch it, but it's too warm for my taste ^^. CPU heat sink stays cool though.

If somebody could help, it would be much appreciated.

(Video of the startup, so you can hear the beeps: https://youtu.be/_i1liVT0bP8 )

Update: Replaced CMOS Battery, horrible beeping is now gone.
Mobo was hence reset to factory defaults, or at least some time in 2008.
Removed RAID-card, tried plugging the HDDs directly into the Mobo instead.

Booting from USB now takes me all the way to the Setup. New Problem though:
It won't install windows on any of the 4 harddrives that were in the PC (Seagates btw, cracked the door open), it doesn't say why, just to look in the logs (which I have no clue where they are).
Tried Installing windows on an old HDD that I built out of my Laptop, but that doesn't work either, because it says that it isn't compatible with the other hardware....
I also tried to install Linux on the old HDDs, but it didn't get to install, once I pressed enter, the PC froze and restarted

Any suggestions?

So, if anybody is interested in the solution to this:

After running DBAN on one of the Harddrives, I followed this guide to get windows 7 SP1 installed/able to get a system partition created. While the MoBo doesn't officially support Win7, it is installed and running as I write this (fingers crossed).

Thanks for the help and Case is now closed
