I am in the process of making a dual Xeon plex server. The motherboard booted fine multiple times, just by switching on the psu. I booted Linux mint from a usb stick and started to install. The process got stuck on the 3rd step after waiting for 24 hours.
So I shut down the system and was going to boot Ubuntu server from another usb stick. Although the motherboard won’t boot now. Any idea what it could be?

There are a lot of settings and password options in a server MB BIOS. There may have been something Linux didn't like. RAID settings, SAS drives, boot from network, HDD password? Linux may have borked the boot sector on the HDD with a failed install. Can you enter Setup and restore defaults, or by jumper/battery removal? I would see if Linux can run from USB, or DVD w/o install and the HDD unplugged. This will let you know if the BIOS/MB is OK.

Dead PSU? Power switch? Look up the PSU test jumper/tool. You jump 2 pins at the 24 pin MB connector to spoof the PWR SW signal and see what happens. If nothing then unplug the MB cable and try again, the PSU could be detecting a MB/hardware problem and going into fail safe mode. Or it could be dead. Server PSUs are usually multi rail. Disconnect all drives etc. and see if one of them is the problem. Be sure you actually have power coming into the computer.
