Question Supermicro X7DA8 for Gaming | GPU Doubts

Apr 10, 2019
Hello there, this is my first message on the forums. I'm hoping someone could solve my issue here.

I've recently got a pretty old but interesting mobo to play with:

  • Supermicro X7DA8
  • Dual Xeon Processors E5320 1.86 Ghz
  • A set of 4x4Gb and 4x1Gb giving it a total of 20Gb of RAM
  • GeForce GTX 460
  • 3 500gb HDD
  • Windows 7 Professional 64Bit
So far, so good. I played some games like GTA V pretty decently, but I keep getting 20FPS mostly.
I've seen an Overclocked version of this mobo on youtube and I wanted to make mine a little better.

Got my eyes on 2 Xeon E5430 2.67Ghz (The best and most affordables I could find here in Argentina, but haven't bought them yet)
and I bought an EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC ASX 2.0 w/4GB.

Here comes the Issue, when i Installed the new GTX 970 I couldn't play GTA anymore! (I dunno why)
It said that somehow i dont have enough graphics hardware to run it properly (more or less)

How is that possible? Is there something I'm missing? Like what's the toppest graphics card I can run with this mobo?
I would really appreciate if someone with the right knowleadge or experience with this mobo could help me out.

Thanks in advance!
