Hi;

I have just picked up a SuperMicro X7DVL-E to upgrade my FreeNAS system. I was going to use an Intel S5000VSA but after one dead one and a DOA replacement I opted for the SuperMicro as it was compatible with the XEON CPU and memory that I had.

Anyway couple of things, before I install my FreeNAS I'd like to update the BIOS to whatever the latest was however when I tried on the SuperMicro website it just says "WE ARE SORRY" I guess due to it's age. When I looked at the legacy list the X7DVL-E is not listed?

Any ideas where I could get a BIOS update from?

Also the board didn't come with a FacePlate, again any ideas?

Thanks

It is recommended that you do not upgrade your BIOS if you are not experiencing any problems with your system.

How about a IPMI 2.0 Remote Management Controller Card?
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA9AX76N0183&Tpk=9SIA9AX76N0183

Item Condition Description: Please Note: This is an OEM motherboard and it does not come with rear I/O shield also known as back-plate cover; this part is not needed and you can still install the board in standard ATX case.

Sorry you'll have to explain what a IPMI remote management controller is and how it will help me :)
Also thought I might have to update the BIOS to fit the XEON 5405 that I have instead of the L5335, but looking at the specs here it seems it will take either.
