Im wondering if I can upgrade from a Phenom X4 9600 to a Phenom II X6 1035T http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103856

My PC http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/1015005R/1015005Rnv.shtml (iv put in other upgrades, just need new cpu)

I know the new CPU is AM3 and my motherboard is a MCP61PM-GM that is socket AM2+ and AM3 CPus shouldnt be supported until I found this. http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Nettle-3-MCP61pm-gm-Running-Phenom-II-1035T-6-Core

Would it be possible for me to upgrade to that as well? Any help is appreciated.

First of all you need to check if the new chip and its pin type will fit the board, so you need to know what pin type the cpu socket will except. Have a check on the Cpu supported list of cpu Chips, and the wattage type the board will support of the Cpu.
A custom Bios is often a risk and may result in bricking the board.
The end result will be you will have to buy a new board and a cpu if the bios mod does not work.

For the safer option, follow the compatibilities of the the motherboard if you are going to upgrade your CPU. If you have AM2+ motherboard, get an AM2+ CPU. If you want really want that AM3 CPU, it is better to change your motherboard.

Although the link you provide may say that it is possible, but we cannot assure that it will work 100% to other people who are also trying doing that. So the possibility is "do it at your own risk". If that fails, your money is just wasted.

The Phenom II X6 1035T is made for AM3 socket.Your motherboard has an AM2 socket.There's no poin in getting a powerful CPU if it can't even bloody fit in the Motherboard.
