[SOLVED] Supported ram speed is 2133mhz but can go up way more?

As in the title, the product information for the mobo says that it’s supports DDR4 2133 MHz ram, but when I go into the bios and apply an XMP file I can oc the ram over 3600mhz, so if I apply an xmp profile do that, will it actually run at those speeds if the ram was built for 3600mhz?

It might show XMP profile in the Bios but chipset only supports up to 2133. Need the Z version of the 170 to run faster ram.

Try it anyway for your own piece of mind and look under memory tab in Cpuz. Dram Frequency should still say 1066.

I ran user benchmark and it clocked at 2400mhz rather than 2133mhz also went into command prompt and put in wmic memorychip get speed and it still said 2400mhz. Checked bios, still says Dram frequency is 2400mhz. So what is happening

it doesnt make sense to me why the mobo would include XMP profiles, and lets you to be able to apply DRAM frequencies over 2133mhz if it is locked at the frequency.

Yeah, ram is running at 2400. Do you have a 7th gen processor on your motherboard?

The confusion is Asus has two specifications page for what it seems the same motherboard. The first link didn't explain in detail. That's on Asus.

Correct, running an intel i7 7000k 4.2ghz. Also if I were to get over 2400mhz ram and replace the other ram sticks would it run at the specified frequency.
