I'm having trouble with my ethernet connection. My modem and router are both working properly. I say this because my wife has no trouble accessing the internet on her laptop ( the device that I'm typing on right now), nor do we have an issue with either of our android phones. So I think my wireless router is ok. Also, I've hooked up her laptop directly to the modem via a wired connection and no problem there either. The issue I have is with my PC, after boot up, I get the "yellow triangle" saying "no internet access." I open the Network and Sharing Center and let Windows 7 diagnose the problem and I get one of two messages,
#1) The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken.
OR
#2) The DNS server isn't responding.
So, having read several posts on this site from folks having similar problems, I have downloaded Malwarebytes and Kapersky TDSSKiller and ran them both. Neither of them detected an issue. I even thought that I may have been being paranoid about having a virus causing the problem so I bought a 20 dollar ethernet card and installed it (thinking that my onboard Mobo port my have died) and still have the same issue.
I'm at a point now where I'm not sure what to do. I know I'm probably overthinking it and making it worse than it is, thus making the simple solution elude me.
Anyway, for those who read this and have a suggestion. Thank you.
