Surface pro 3 vs Dell Venue pro 7000?

I need some help here. Maybe Im missing something. The surface pro for an I5 with just 256 gb SSD and 8 gig ram is 1179. The same specs for a dell inspirion 7000 is only 749 .

Why is the pricing for the surface so much higher than its other windows counterparts like dell and hp for the same type of device?

Its like the Sony Xperia z4 which is nothing more than an android tablet yet it is priced at 600-800 when at the end of the day its an android tablet. Nothing proprietary at all like apple has.

The MS Surface Pro 3 is smaller and lighter with similar components as the Dell. That generally means more engineering went into the designing the Surface Pro 3 which means it costs more to bring to market.

If the Dell Venue Pro suits your needs then just buy it to save some money.
