I was really excited for a win8 tablet when they were first announced. Then months later they were released.... in the US.... months ago.
You would have to be mad to invest in one of thee now with all of the new goodies that Intel and AMD have just around the corner.
The sales figures for Surface did not set the world alight purely because it just was not available anywhere. I very nearly had one imported but the thought of having to return it half way across the world if there were any defects I could not justify it.
Next time around I hope the devices are released simultaneously or at least within a couple of weeks.

@duckhunt
Yeah it would be funny if the pro came with a 1366x768 except it comes with 1920x1080 screen. The report is wrong.
The RT indeed has the cheap and horrible 1366x768 but the pro does not

HOW much for that kind of spec? Will never sell to more than such as niche business segments who want to show off a new gadget to their peers. You'd have to work to persuade me at half that price to get over the Windows 8 issue.

"It boasts the same 10.6-inch (27 cm) 1366 x 768 px (148 ppi) ClearType HD screen with 16:9 aspect ratio..."
It´s not hard to get the facts right. They are posted on the Microsoft website. Surface Pro has 1920x1080 resolution.

I like mine... got rid of my ultrabook not long after getting it. It's now my "lightweight travel machine" to compliment my 8770w (which is anything but lightweight).

I thought Tom's is a U.S. site..... I just had to go convert pounds to dollars. Come on Tom's; put a conversion in there for us. It comes out to over $1200. Eeeek, poor Brits getting mugged. Not to mention it has been out for a while now.

I see Jane wrote this, that explains the non US dollar conversion. I <3 you Jane.

While I'm using a very, very similar machine (Acer W700) and positively love it, I just don't know what MS is hoping to accomplish with this kind of pricing. A great product with no significant hype behind it that costs too much is just going to slip by the wayside and MS had better wake up and smell the roses - they're an insignificant in the tablet world and are not going to change this with this kind of a pricing strategy.
