Surge protector can't be used here?

My surge protector says not to use within 30 feet (10 meters) of the electrical service panel, which I assume is the breaker box. I have a small apartment and this surge protector will be used for my computer which is 5 feet from the breaker box and that's the only place I can fit it. Is it dangerous to use it that close to the box?

If it is a small unit that plugs into a single power outlet , and it used to protect devices such as ac , fridge's and tv's then you will be fine

It's a 7 outlet strip that will be used for my pc, two monitors and my pc speakers.
