I've had friends who were driving and arrested who weren't drinking but were still suspected of it, arrested, and taken to the station for a BAC test. I read this like.. yeah that sucks for the PD then.. wait.. what? Where did that come from?!

SURPRISE, Ariz. (CBS Cleveland) — Arizona authorities charge a man for driving under the influence despite him blowing a .000 on a breathalyzer test.

KNXV-TV reports that 64-year-old Jessie Thornton – a native of Ohio – was recently pulled over by Surprise police after he recently left an LA Fitness gym. Thornton then says the officer accused him of driving drunk.

“He walked up and he said ‘I can tell you’re driving DUI by looking in your eyes,’” Thornton told KNXV.

Thornton was then given a sobriety test.

“I take my glasses off and he says, ‘You’ve got bloodshot eyes.’ I said, ‘I’ve been swimming at LA Fitness,’ and he says, ‘I think you’re DUI,’” said Thornton. “He goes, ‘Well we’re going to do a sobriety test.’ I said, ‘OK, but I got bad knees and a bad hip with surgery in two days.’”

Documents obtained by KNXV shows that Thornton did have hip replacement surgery shortly after his arrest.

After the sobriety test, Thornton was handcuffed and placed on the curb.

“I couldn’t even sit on the ground like that and they knew it and I was like laying on the ground, then they put me in the back of an SUV and when I asked the officer to move her seat up because my hip hurt she told me to stop whining,” Thornton explained to KNXV.

At the station, Thornton took a breathalyzer test and was examined by a drug recognition expert. The breathalyzer test came back .000 and the tests done by the drug recognition expert showed no signs of drug abuse.

“After he did all the tests, he says, ‘I would never have arrested you, you show no signs of impairment,’” Thornton told KNXV.

Despite the DUI charge being dropped, his car was impounded. He is now suing the City of Surprise for half a million dollars.

“This is a case of D-W-B, driving while black,” Marc Victor, Thornton’s attorney, told KNXV.

The Surprise Police Department did not comment on the case.

This is the wonderful U.S. you are living in now.Turning into a military state with no freedom I see.

We are to trust our government. Place our liberties there, and disregard our God given ones our forefathers spoke of, just because it offends some to think this way.
At this point, those offended need to jump on the bus, or trust our government completely, which leaves them in a paradox.
Some want the scandals to end, not with knowledge and truth, but to just stop looking at the reasons why, and not who.
Well, the who is our government, and if government officials are saying to stop, how then can we trust them?
When spying isnt so bad, and the people didnt know it existed, the man who reported of its existence is now a wanted criminal by the government, and all we need to do is talk about it now?
When our president condemned these actions prior to his election, then expanded them once in office, the blame disappears, Bush was right, Obama was.....

This is not the land I knew growing up, and I dont mean because of actions others have taken, such as the felling of the twin towers.
Its the actions of our government thats changed, so dont let them lie to you.

Our governments failure to fix a problem so basic as skin color and decency, and they want us to trust?
The skin color issue has been going on alot longer than this, as in WWII, and the internment camps etc, as it isnt just a black issue as well.
If we can abuse the innocent whether officially from the president on down, or your local cop shop, quit treading on me and my kind, quit treading on our constitution, our God given rights.

You owe us Uncle Sam, all of us, and no, its not ask what the government can do for you either Mr BO, and no, its not sacrifice liberty for security Mr BO et al, time to clear the debt
