i was wondering do you need a surround sound card if you use a USB surround sound headset i want a 7.1 headset but have a 2.0 card
also which is the best USB headset for ear comfort for under £100

Most usb virtual surround headsets are crap or overpriced. Get the razer surround software for $20 and a nice stereo gaming headset from Sennheiser. Cheaper and the sound will be a million times better. I have the Sennheiser HD 350 SE and the razer software.

i already have the razer surround software and you get it free with razer headsets

Then why are you getting a usb headset? If you have the software get a real headset.

i want a good surround sound headset not some cheap one which uses razer surround

IMO you're dumbing out. What you think is bad is the whole package when realistically it's the HEADSET not the SOFTWARE. What Iamsoda is suggesting is to buy a NEW HEADSET but because Razer's surround sound software is so good to keep it.

Can you suggest how much you're willing to spend on a new headset and where you are please?:) I will just find what's best in that price bracket (IMO)

i already said that i wanted to spend no more than £100 also i did not get my actual answer to whether i need a 7.1 surround sound card for a 7.1 USB headset

You don't need a sound card for virtual surround. The razer software acts like that. Unless you paid $250 for your headset, I don't think it has 10 drivers in your headphones. No you do not and I would say don't get the usb headphones. The razer software will do the surround as good or better. Plus then you can put money towards a better sounding stereo headphones. Do you understand what virtual surround sound is?
