My Kingston UV400 SSD recently failed and the moment it died, for some very odd reason my WD Purple Storage drive (connected via the same SATA cable) also disappeared from Windows Explorer. On disconnecting the SSD, my HDD re-appeared, but since then; it takes a while to open applications, at times basic right clicking causes windows explorer to freeze etc. Is my HDD failing or is the SATA cable the culprit?

What do you mean by SATA cable? Is it the SATA data cable or the SATA power cable? You can't connect more than one device to a SATA data cable. A SATA power cable, from the power supply unit, usually has multiple SATA power connectors that can connect to multiple drives.

Sorry, I meant SATA data cable.
