Hello,
my new Notebook runs winXP Home, which happily detects my USB stick and
installs the correct drivers. Unfortunately the device automatically switches
off after about 6 seconds. The USB stick appears very briefly in the device
manager as Massenspeichergeraet = masstorage device and then disappears
again, so that I do not have enough time to check its energy state. I have
already reinstalled als USB Hubs and Controllers, no success.
How could I test whether the device causes the USB port to be suspended? The
USB stick works perfectly on my office PC (WinMe), Laboratory PC (Win XP
Prof) and old Notebook (Win98) and does not need any batteries for
datatransfer via a USB port.
Any suggestions what might go wrong and what I need to check?

Thank you very much for any help and sorry about my strange English
Julia

Hi Julia,

have the same problem with a normal desktop PC. USB stick simply
disappears after about 2 seconds of show up in the explorer. Just did
a search for the solution on Google. But no success...

But I have an intermediate fix:
Open Systemsteuerung, Computerverwaltung, Datentraegerverwaltung. The
USB stick always show up there in the RH window. Right click Oeffnen,
then a folder with the USB stick content opens and remains open. Now
you can copy any file from/to the stick.

Hope it helps,

Regards,

Torsten
