svchost.exe eating up bandwidth only when playing Steam-based games

Hi, so I've been playing both CS:GO and Dota 2 for a while now, and something odd is happening. When I play csgo, svchost.exe, which normally only takes up a few hundred bytes of my bandwidth, spikes up to 250+ kilobytes per second, which is ALL of my bandwidth. The same happens when I play Dota 2, only sometimes what eats up my bandwidth is Steam itself. I'm not sure what's causing this, as my Steam is fully updated. I've run full scans with both Malwarebytes and AVG, and it's not turning up anything, and I'm pretty sure svchost.exe is a Windows process. Suspending the process is a temporary fix for while I'm playing, but the moment I close the game, it freezes and I have to resume svchost for it to close properly. What's causing these issues? I've had them before on my old laptop, and never really found a solution.
