Svchost using 5.6 GB of RAM

Hello,
A friend of mine has a Dell Inspiron 15R , With windows 7 home premium, and Task manager reports svchost to use 5.6GB of RAM. He is barely able to boot the system... and its slow as hell. Any help would be greatly appreciated 😀

boot in save mode f8. install malware buyes and an updated anti virus software /avast/avg/mse scan system...
