Swapping LCD screens between monitors

I currently have a 24" ACER KG240 144hz monitor that has been damaged by something hitting it busting pixels. The monitor still works but has a rainbow color spider as well as lines across it. I recently bought another KG240 from Newegg only to find out that the KG240 is now a 60hz monitor (I use it for gaming) and this will not work for me. What I was wondering is can I take the LCD screen out of an old Dell 24" monitor and connect it to the internals of the broken KG240 so I can maintain my 144hz but lose the lines/spider effect?

The part you're trying to replace is the part that is broken.

I'd say return the product and swap it for the 144Hz model. (I'm pretty sure Newegg won't be a big bother if you mention buying the wrong refresh rate)
