My Win 7 OS was originally installed on a small 64g SSD using some guidance from these forums to redirect my User profiles and Programs folder to another partial partition on a larger HDD assigned as D: drive. I now have a much larger SSD that I have partitioned in a manner that it has a free partition of equal space and would like this second partition to take over the duties of the slower original D: drive HDD partition.
I have copied what I believe are all hidden, system and standard files with the exception of the ntuser file group from the old partition to the new SSD partition through my Win7 interface. I have then tried to 'assign' the old partition to be 'O:' and then the new one to replace it as 'D:' but on booting back to Windows I find the drive letters to be unchanged.
Are the ntuser files an issue and need to be copied out of an edisk command prompt? Can anyone help me towards the goal I am trying to get to to get all of the previous folders on to a new partition on the fast 512g dirve?
