Switch from Windows 8.1 32 bit to 64 bit?

I have Windows 8.1 Professional 32 bit installed on my computer. Legit Product Key purchased from Microsoft. I was thinking of getting a SSD and doing a clean install of Windows 8.1 Professional 64 bit.

I know how to download and create the iso file using the Media Creation Tool and burn to a DVD.

My question is will my Product Key work if I try to install the 64 bit version?

Yes your key will work on 32 bit and 64 bit. Contact Microsoft if you have any problems.

Product keys aren't bit specific , your key is legit for either.

That is good to know. I plan on maybe doing a dual-boot setup, at least until I get all of my older programs installed on the 64 bit platform. I assume this would also be OK, since only one OS would be in use at a time.

I think you might need to create the 64 bit media on a 64 bit OS PC. I think that is how I did my last one.

I do have a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit computer. So I should create the iso file and DVD on that machine?

That should would work , it will see that you have 64 bit.

Ok that's what I will do. I may try the dual-boot thing on a spare HDD I have lying around before buying the SSD, as I need to get back up to speed on partitioning the drive.
