Switch not working

I have a TL-SF1005D switch and I plugged it directly into the modem. I then plugged my Samsung tv and Xbox one into the switch. My Xbox is getting internet but my tv is not. Why?

A switch is used to provide additional ports, expanding the capability of the router. A switch will not provide routing capability and should not be connected directly to the modem unless a DHCP Server is present elsewhere on the network. So the connection should be modem—router-switch.

Modem.... Router.... Switch. Your are o ly getting 1 IP address from the modem.
