Switch volume control from headset to computer

I just bought a wireless gaming headset that has it's own volume control buttons. The headset works properly and when I have it selected in my audio mixer, it shows that I can adjust the headset volume as I would adjust my PC master volume. However, when the headset volume on the PC is adjusted or muted the actual volume of the headset goes unchanged. I'd like to control the volume of the headset from the PC. Does anyone know how to do this?

Likely a really basic question, but are you sure the slider you're looking at related to the Audio, and not the Mic aspect?
