Switched out a OCZ TRION 150 (480GB) SSD and installed a HGST 3TB HD in its place. Literally just removed the Icy Dock tray holding it and put the new one in its place, used the same SATA and power cable.
It booted fine the first time, and then I formatted the new drive. When I rebooted the computer it would not boot up, entered BIOS and the HGST was shown as the boot drive adjusted it back to the MyDigitalSSD BP5 240 GB M.2 2280 SSD drive that contains the OS. The system booted and I actually transferred 2 partitions onto the HGST HD. However, it will not boot reliably and at times seems to get stuck shutting down, hour glassing for hours.
Whenever I disconnect the HGST drive, then reboot the system runs a repair subroutine and then gives me the Windows 10 options, I just choose Go to Windows 10 and it boots up like normal and continues to do so.
I am at a loss of what to do. Any suggests or ideas of where to look would be appreciated. Reading the MB Manual it says that the computer not booting with a new spare HD is a sign that the new HD is not formatted, yet this drive has data on it, but no OS.
