Switching from AMD to Intel

I'm doing a new computer build, switching from AMD to Intel. Is it possible to use my AMD boot disk without reformatting it? If so, what are the steps I should take.

No need to reformat, win 7 actually dump all the previous system files inside a folder if u chose to install on the sade disk section.

I failed to mention that I'm running Windows Pro 8.1. Does it work the same for this version of Windows?

Srry, never had any experience with win 8.
I THINK its likely to work but I recommand backing up your files before.

Windows 8.1 is BETTER at moving than 7 is. Just switch to intel and boot the computer. It will work .I have done it many times. All you need to do is reactivate the installation via the automated phone thing. Takes 10 mins.
