Im planning on switching from Amd to Intel. Just wondering how I should go about this and what I need to buy and upgrade

Current computer specs:

CPU: AMD FX-6300 6-Core w/Turbo Core

Ram: 16gb DDR3

Storage: 120GB Solid State Drive
1TB(1000GB) HDD

Video: 4GB GDDR5 Radeon RX460 Graphics

Optical Drive: DVD-RW/CD-RW

Networking: 10/100/1000

Operating Software: Microsoft Windows 10 Home (64bit)

Connectivity: 4 USB 3.0, 6USB 2.0, USB 3.1 Type-C, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort

The intel processer im planning on getting is: Intel Core i9-9900k 3.6ghz (octa core)

I was planning on also getting the Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Pro[crossfire][SLI][RGB]

Is there anything else I should upgrade or need to add to my device to make this switch work. Also I’m planning on paying professionals too do this switch with me.

What would the overall costs be for all the upgrades

Price range 800-1200

CPU, RAM, motherboard. Not sure of your PSU so might as well get a new one. No point in using that old GPU, gotta upgrade that.

You ain't doing for under $1200 lol
Well, I guess if you reuse that old GPU. Also gotta get another SSD, unless you really only want Windows and no games or apps.

I'm not the best at this. But here's most your build. You'll still need a decent cooler for that CPU. Probably a AIO so add at least another $150. You're at $1,000 right now. I would suggest a new GPU to take advantage of your new powerful system. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pkr7Bb

You would also need to upgrade your RAM to DDR4. DDR3 is no longer supported on many motherboards. Also that is a very expensive processor you are buying. What do you plan on doing with this system? If you are gaming I would highly recommend you get a cheaper processor and use that money on getting a better graphics card. Your current graphics card would severely bottleneck the processor. Another SSD would be good as well, now is a good time to buy them as they have come down in price.

Yes you would need ddr4. You may want/need to go with a new psu also. Intel cpus are great. But also very expensive right now. This is an example idea. You could even cut cost more going with a b450 mobo if you wanted. And I just used the LED ram since it was the cheapest of the 16gb 3200 ram. Most 16gb 3000-3200 case 15-16 will do fine. Last time I was really into AMD was like 2001/2. But right now their cost/performance is hard to beat.

I'm still on the AMD wagon.

Ryzen 1700x(8 core/16 threads)
16gb of ram
250gb nvme drive
1tb drive- may be adding another that I have sitting though
GTX 1050ti(about to pick up a 1070 in the next couple of days hopefully)

The cpu may not be quite as fast for games as the 9900k, but if you are going to use a 460, you would be much better served going AMD ryzen, then putting the money you save into a decent graphics card.

Also, ryzen 3000 series is supposed to launch within the next month or so, and rumors that are out look like they are going to really going to do some good things with it.

There is nothing on AMD's side that will beat a 9900K. If the OP wants to buy top level CPU performance with prices as they are, that is the OP's prerogative. 9900K is not going to get beat in single core or multi-core.

https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i9-9900K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-2700X/4028vs3958

And telling the OP to put money into a video card when they do not care about gaming when the RX460 will be plenty adequate is missing their goal. It is a real shame AMD can not compete at the top end, and fair or unfair, the market has decided that is why AMD must win on price by a large margin.
