At the end of this week I'll be switching from the RX 590 to the GTX 1660. I would like to be careful about the procedure. I know I will have to go into safe mode and use DDU. The question is whether to do that before or after I remove the RX 590. Whether I should install the 1660 drivers with the RX 590 still in but the drivers stripped, then shut down and reboot with the new card.
I don't want to pop the 1660 in and have the system unable to use/recognize/boot because the wrong card is in there.
I am worried that this seemingly easy procedure will turn into an epic struggle. It has happened before.
I suppose I should clone the hard drive before I do this that way I can just put the cloned OS drive in and be back where I started if everything heads hopelessly south.
