So I have just got a new GPU as an early Christmas present. I had no trouble fitting the card but when I try to boot up my PC it gets to the starting windows screen and then all the fans go really loud and the computer freezes. I have tried uninstalling the drivers for my old card but I am still getting the same problem. The new card is an Nvidia and the old one was an AMD. Have I made a mistake here?

Specs are ( possibly not completely accurate):-
CPU - Intel ivy bridge 3rd gen i3 (not sure of exact model)
Motherboard - gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H
GPU - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 ti boost
Power supply is a 600 Watt the GPU only requires a 450 Watt.

Solution
For those still interested the BIOS on my motherboard was outdated and so the computer was crashing when it got to the POST screen. The way to fix it was to flash the bios on the motherboard and now it boots fine
