I am buying a PC which I am happy with except it's an extra £90 to have windows 10 on it which I do not want> I have a spare laptop around with windows 8.1 so I was wondering, would I be able to download windows 8.1 from my laptop onto a disk and download that onto my PC with no OS on it?

It wouldn't work because the system on the laptop is tied to it by the Product Key, Try to activate Windows on another machine using that key would fail.

Just buy the cheaper model without Windows 10 and take up the offer of a free upgrade which will appear automatically. You have until July 29th to do it that way.

The PC doesn't come with an operating system at all so how would I be able to get the free windows 10 upgrade?

It's not that I hate windows 10, it's just that I am really not keen on spending £90 for it

You can't. That 'free' Upgrade is only with an existing OS.

Your new PC needs its own OS.
Win 7, 8.1, 10, whatever.

Just like your new PC needs its own RAM and CPU.

Ohhh, sorry, I didn't see the link. That's a lot better than spending £90 for windows 10. Thank you :p

Yes, I know it needs an operating system... But I don't want to spend £90 and something I don't even like. I was seeing if there was an alternative which Wolf has provided
