Switching out Motherboard

I'm switching out my motherboard and giving my previous one to a friend. Both are z170 motherboards just wanted to get a new one for various reasons.

My current one is an MSI one and the new one I am switching out to is an Asus ROG brand.

What steps do I have to take to prepare my pc for the switch? What should I do with my current motherboard to prepare to give to my friend? I will be taking my windows 10 serial to my new motherboard. Will any issues occur with windows activation for both new and old motherboard?

This is not always a streamlined process, you need to uninstall all drivers you can. Windows activation should not be a problem, but make a USB for the Windows rom and write down your serial number incase something arises.
