So I decided to switch over to Ryzen and previously I was running a 6600k. I bought a bigger m.2 to use in this build but had a few question before a proceed. I see that people recommend doing a fresh install of Windows when switching from AMD to Intel (and vice-versa) but since I won't be using the same boot drive as before should I clone my disk to the new drive first then reinstall Windows or fresh install then clone my old SSD to the new m.2? Or is there some other way I should go about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Also quick note: I do not have Windows 10 activated on my current PC if that would affect anything.

Maybe, maybe not.
These applications will need to be reinstalled.

You'll be starting like it was day 1 on your system.

1. Do you have all the install files?
2. Do you have whatever license key is associated with them?

You need to do a whole fresh install on the new hardware.
The physical drive does not matter. A clone is the same as trying to use the old drive.

Ok so i should put this all together, install windows on it, then connect my old SSD and clone it on the new drive?

No.
Cloning your old OS over to that drive in the new system will wipe out the clean Windows install you just did on it.

Ok, well my main concern is that I have a ton of program licenses on my old computer, will I be able to reclaim these on the new install? they're all student licenses and cant afford to lose them.
