In my previous tower, I had Windows 10 on a SSD and a storage drive consisting of 2 x 3TB HDD in RAID 1. I got a new motherboard, MSI X99A Gaming 7 (and almost every other part except the hard drives) and neglected to switch the SATA mode to RAID on the new board during the test boot before the drives were plugged in. Then I put the whole tower together, Windows did its thing and thought for a few minutes while it became acquainted with the new digs, and POOF, she was alive.
I then realized, while making sure everything was running properly, that I now have two separate, identical 3TB storage drives, no longer in RAID 1. I remember reading in another thread that it is possible to switch to RAID mode again without reinstalling Windows by booting in safe mode, restarting, changing SATA to RAID, restarting and booting in safe mode again, letting Windows think, then restarting normally and everything is peachy-keen. But I think that was with W7 or W8.
Any suggestions? Or do I have to just do a backup once a week?
