Hi,

I have recently purchased a new faster hard drive to replace my ageing maxtor drive. I would like windows to run on this new drive instead to increase speed. I have cloned the old drive to the new one using the Western Digital software. However I am stuck as to now move windows to be solely on the new drive. I tried formatting the old drive but windows wouldnt let me (the windows icon is still on the old drive) and I have switched the first boot device to be the new drive. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

(I am using windows 7)

I can't exactly to understand you.
What's your actual problem? Your windows don't want to boot from the new drive? Check it if it's marked System and Active in the windows disk manager - control panel>admin tools>computer management>Disk management
Set the BIOS to boot from it
