Sylvania TV resolution mismatch error when I plug in my nintendo switch

So not sure the model of my TV I know it has a built in DVD player but when I tried hooking up my nintedo switch with an HDMI cable I got the error message 'resolution mismatch! Change device's resolution'
I went into the setting on my switch and changed the resolution to all three different settings (480p, 720p, 1080p) and I still got the mismatch error each time. I tried looking this up online and haven't found anything except for people having trouble with xbox or PS3. Any help would be appreciated.

What resolution is your TV?
Can you look on your TV to find a label - and tell us what make and model it is?

Have you tried another TV or a gaming monitor?

If the TV has HDMI the problem could be that the TV is fixed for 50Hz (pal/europe) or something and can't handle the 60Hz from the switch or other consoles.
