Question Symptoms of a fried GPU?

I'm assuming the motherboard at the very least was fried in a PC I owned, but I haven't tested GPU to ascertain whether or not it suffered a similar fate. It shows no signs of physical damage and the fan works perfectly when connected via a PCI cable. What're the chances it's usable? Do I have to go through the hassle of dismantling and reassembling my current PC to personally test it, or do these observations say enough?

What do you mean by "PCI cable" ?

A gpu can be dead with no physical signs of damage. The only way to know if it is working correctly is to put it in a system and test it.
