Something thats probably relevant is the difference between the tech each company uses. The asus Aura stuff is based around a simple single color RGB strip (IE, all LEDs display the same color) while the Razer stuff is using the more advanced (and *much* cooler) RGB strips that are individually addressable. For example, the Riing Plus LED fans probably won't ever be compatible with ASUS aura sync unless they work together on the software end of things (since its not going to work through the MB headers).
It's all a little depressing honestly. I'd love to have the individually addressable LED strips working in conjunction with my Razer peripherals. I might see what kind of DIY options there are using bare LED strips (the addressable kind).
Honestly for most case setups the ASUS design will be fine. You only really need the addressable stuff out on your desk or on the front of the PC where you might want "chase" style effects (where the strip colors "chase" each other along the length of the cable).
