Syncing Folders across Systems

I would like to sync a folder across two systems, but do not know how to do it. The goal is to have any update made to the folder on either system will sync to the other system. My idea to do this was to create a server, which both computers upload the folder to any time it is modified, and the folder syncs from the server to both computers any time one or both is turned on. The reason I would like to do it like this is to make sure that only one system has to be turned on, but still allow it to sync. Sorry if this is a bad explanation, I'm not good at explaining. But is there a way to achieve this?

Yeah, this or running a local FTP server off the router and USB plugging into the router (what I do at home to share files between computers) sounds good.

DropBox, MS Office One Drive, or Google Drive sound like they could all do what you'd like.

Why not attach a USB external HDD to the router?
You can shared the folder for both systems, however, you can't turn off the host system. You can shut down the other system when it back on it will reconnect to the shared folder.
