Syncing RGB On Various Components

Greetings,

I have a couple of questions about RGB synchronisation. My ultimate goal is to be able to let all components synchronise together. My mobo is Asus Z370-E.

  • - If I connect multiple RGB fans to one RGB header on a mobo, I won't be able to select different color for each fan, is that right? (I mean I won't be able to set one to blue, one to yellow, and one to pink, they all will change together).
    - If I connect multiple Cooler Master 140 RGB fans to Cooler Master RGB controller (which says it is Aura compatible), and connect the controller to mobo USB, will I be able to synchronise these fans with other components connected to the mobo RGB header(s)?
    - The Asus 1080ti has an RGB header. What is it for? is it so synchronise the fans colors with other components? Can I connect this header to the Cooler Master RGB controller?

Cheers.

Solution
I'm not familiar with the inner workings of Aura Sync software since i don't have Asus MoBo, instead i have MSI MoBos in use. Though, that much i can say that Aura Sync software is quite buggy and for any fixes to that, your best bet is contacting Asus support.
Q&A

1) Depends on a fan. Also, there is so much MoBo RGB header can power. Exact figure of max powered LEDs is found in your MoBo manual. But generally, yes, you can set different color for each fan from Aura Sync software if the fan is compatible with Aura Sync.

2) Yes, via Aura Sync software.

3) That RGB header has same purpose and functionality as the one on your MoBo.

Hello Aeacus,
Thanks for your answer.
However, I just finished building my PC I don't think that is completely true.
I have 2 ARGB fans connected to the ARGB header.
I have 2 cooler master RGB fans connected to the RGB controller.

1- I cannot control the 2 ARGB fans. I mean I cannot set either of them, or both of them, to a specific color. They follow the mode in Aura (breathing for example).
2- Aura cannot control the 2 other fans at all. I can only control them via the cooler master app.

Well, i did say that fan color control depends on a fan. Not all RGB fans can be controlled with Aura Sync. That, and it also depends if LEDs in the RGB fan are addressable or not.

As far as Cooler Master 140 RGB fans go, and if you use Cooler Master RGB control box, then yes, you can control your fans via Cooler Master software. But if you were to take the RGB control box out of the loop and connect your fans directly to your MoBo, you can control them via Aura Sync. Since fans are Aura Sync compatible while RGB control box is not.

Thanks again for your quick reply. Much appreciated.

The Aura software shows the components connected: https://imgur.com/a/bJxS4tF
Problem is, I cannot control these components individually (I cannot set the VGA to red, mother board to pink, etc). Is this how it is intended to work?
