I'm not Harry, but I'll jump in, if you don't mind. It's not a
matter of rules, and it's not even a matter of your being rude.
Here or elsewhere, text in all caps is hard to read, and it feels
to the reader like you're shouting. So it's customary not to type
in all caps.
If you're new to newsgroups, and you don't know what's customary,
that's OK; everyone has to learn the first time. It's fine for
sometime to ask you politely not to post in all caps, and to
explain why, but what's *not* fine is chewing you out for it;
chewing you out for it is what's rude.
